| The goal of this project is to isolate 3 or 4 key symbols that
represent you and your personality. Every color, every detail, every
shape that you use, every reoccurring pattern must be explained. The
Mandala is you. You will use this experience to deeply think about who
you are. You MUST use personality traits to explain who you are. You
MUST use theories (minimum 2) of the grand theories we used in class to
explain your personality (I.E. Freud's forces 'id, ego, superego',
Jung's archetypes, Roger's congruence, Adler, Horney, etc.) YOU NEED TO WRITE A PAPER explaining every detail. http://www.wilderdom.com/personality/L6-2PersonalityTraits.html

Skeptics column: Many high school students argue, that it is belittling or impossible to sum your self up in a picture. I am not asking for a summation of your life. I am not asking for a picture. I am asking for you to SYMBOLICALLY represent your self. Cultures have been doing it for hundreds of thousands of years. |
Mandala Project
Create a mandala that represents your own psychology.
Use whatever medium you believe to be your true mandala. (IE Paint, photograph, Colored pencils, collage, etc)
Jung found that mandalas have the power to bring order to the psyche, and that the cosmic symbolism they contain has universal significance in all cultures.
Write an explanation to the mandala: what does it mean? How does it represent you? What do the colors mean? What do the symbols mean? How does it show the self or myself? INCORPORATE at least 2 theories of personality into your mandala.

The word mandala originates from the Sanskrit word for circle. A mandala
symbolizes an imaginary place that is contemplated during meditation in both
Hinduism and Buddhism. A mandala can be described as any form of circular
geometric design that contains symbols of a person’s inner self, guiding
principles, and overall ideas about the world. The significance of objects
within a mandala are conveyed by shape, size, and color; they can be abstract
designs that are central to a person’s life.
